Kathmandu, the ancient capital of
Nepal, is a sight to see. From the modern, bustling streets to the ancient temples and monuments, the city has a lot to offer the adventurous traveller.
Kathmandu Valley is home to 7 UNESCO World Heritage Listed Sites, and they’re all worth a visit:
1. Known as the Temple of Monkeys, Syambhunath Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples, and was established by King Manadeva in the 13th century. The temple is in the centre of
Kathmandu and at the top of a hill, giving visitors a stunning view of
Kathmandu Valley.
2. Bhaktapur Durbar Square, built in the Malla Dynasty, is a gorgeous city square filled with traditional culture and intricate architecture.
3. Bouddha Stupa is a monument about 11km northeast of the centre of
Kathmandu. The Stupa is tied with prayer flags, and plays a significant role in many traditional Buddhist festivals.

Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most famous places to visit of all the world heritage sites. It is a Hindu temple, and many Hindu people make the pilgrimage here each year.
5. Patan Durbar Square is one of the oldest cities in
Kathmandu valley. It’s located in the Lalitpur district and has 55 temples to explore.
6. Changunarayan is a Hindu temple to the god Vishnu. This temple is in the Bhaktapur district, a scenic 2 hour drive from
Kathmandu.

Kathmandu Durbar Square is an ancient royal palace, home to several Malla kings. The palace is home to art and architecture from the 12th to the 18th century.
