Read The DNC's Never-Finished Autopsy Of The 2024 Election

Thumbnail
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has released an incomplete draft of its 2024 election loss autopsy. This 192-page document, shared with CNN by DNC Chair Ken Martin, aims to address questions surrounding the party's electoral defeat, though it contains noted uncertainties and errors.
  • The report, authored by Democratic strategist Paul Rivera, offers broad conclusions. It suggests the Biden White House inadequately promoted Vice President Kamala Harris and that the party's association with "identity politics" is detrimental to its brand. A contested recommendation is to allocate campaign funds earlier in election cycles.
  • However, the document conspicuously avoids in-depth analysis of critical decisions. It does not question President Joe Biden's decision to seek re-election. Furthermore, it refrains from extensively examining the impact of Biden's stance on the Gaza conflict on the party's appeal to Muslim and progressive voters. DNC staff have pointed out numerous spelling and factual inaccuracies within the draft, alongside notations questioning the evidence base for certain conclusions.
