Porsche is now offering wireless EV charging as a production option for its electric vehicles, starting with the Cayenne Electric. This technology allows for convenient charging without the need for cables.
- The new wireless charging system operates at a charging capacity of 11 kW, similar to many Level 2 wired chargers. Users simply park their compatible Porsche EV over a base pad installed in their garage or driveway.
- The system automatically initiates the charging process once the vehicle is correctly positioned. Porsche has stated that the efficiency of the wireless charging is comparable to that of wired charging.
- This feature is initially available as an option for the Porsche Cayenne Electric. The base pad, known as the Porsche Charging Dock, will be available for purchase separately.
- The company has indicated that this wireless charging technology will be rolled out to other electric models in its lineup. This move signals Porsche's commitment to advancing charging convenience for its EV customers.
